What Are Dental X-Rays?

Dental X-rays are an essential diagnostic tool that helps us see below the surface of your teeth and gums. These images allow us to detect issues like cavities, dental abscesses, bone loss, and impacted teeth that are invisible to the naked eye. Our digital dental X-ray technology provides high-quality images with minimal radiation exposure, ensuring your safety while giving us precise diagnostic capabilities.

When Do You Need a Dental X-Ray?

Dental X-rays may be required in several scenarios:

Routine Exams

To catch early signs of decay, gum disease, or other issues.

Dental Abscess

X-rays can confirm the presence of an abscess and help guide treatment.

Dental Implants

Before undergoing implant surgery, X-rays help assess bone structure.

Orthodontic Treatment

If braces or other corrective treatments are needed, X-rays provide important information about jaw alignment.

Types of Dental X-Rays

At Green Pond Dental, we offer a variety of types of dental X-rays based on your individual needs:

Each X-ray type is chosen based on the unique needs of your dental health, ensuring the most accurate and tailored care.

Bitewing
X-Rays

These show the upper and lower back teeth, allowing us to detect decay between the teeth and bone loss from gum disease.

Periapical
X-Rays

These focus on one or two complete teeth from the root to the crown to detect abscesses, cysts, or root canal issues.

Panoramic
X-Rays

A broad view of the entire mouth, helpful for identifying impacted teeth, tumors, or jaw disorders.

Occlusal
X-Rays

Useful for capturing bite alignment and the development of teeth in children.

WHY TRUST US?

LET A REAL ROCKAWAY, NJ, PATIENT CONVINCE YOU

- Greg Z.

"Dr Lubart and her staff gave me the best dental experience. At the jump the receptionist handled a weird insurance issue for me quickly and easily. Dr Lubart was wonderfully communicative, informative, calm, and patient. I was aware of all possible outcomes during my procedure and she took photos to show me with mini updates. She made sure I was comfortable along the way and I left way happier than the last time I left my previous dentist (even after just starting a root canal!)."

How Often Should You Get Dental X-Rays?

One common question we receive is, how often should you get dental X-rays? The frequency depends on your oral health history and risk factors. For most adults with good dental health, getting X-rays every 1-2 years is typical. However, those with ongoing dental issues like decay, gum disease, or the need for implants may require them more often.

For children, child dental X-rays may be taken more frequently to monitor the development of their teeth and ensure proper growth. Our team will assess each patient individually to recommend the best schedule for X-rays.

How Much Does a Dental X-Ray Cost?

For an accurate estimate tailored to your specific needs, we recommend scheduling a consultation with our experienced team to discuss the cost of dental X-rays and address any questions you may have. Our staff will guide you through the process and ensure you understand what to expect based on your individual treatment plan.

At Green Pond Dental, we strive to offer transparent and affordable dental care, including our X-ray services. The cost of dental X-rays can vary based on the type of X-ray and individual needs, but we always provide a clear estimate before any procedure. We also accept most insurance plans, making it easier for you to get the care you need. Our team is happy to discuss your coverage and help ensure a smooth process during your visit.
